As the Hot Summer Nights concert series reaches the middle of June, the music and the atmosphere are truly living up to the event's name. The evening in Sherman kicked off with an energetic solo performance by Texas singer-songwriter Dalton Elliott.
Mayor Shawn Teamann introduced the show to an estimated crowd of 2,000 country music fans gathered at Kidd-Key Park. Headliner Corey Kent’s upcoming album, "Heartland Rock and Roll," perfectly captures his unique sound—a blend that is too country for rock and too rock for country.
Kent offered something for everyone, keeping the crowd singing and dancing throughout the night. Demonstrating his versatility, he performed covers of hits by Oasis, Travis Tritt, and Eric Church, ensuring that even those less familiar with his catalog felt included. With hundreds of millions of Spotify streams to his name, Kent has come a long way since his days as a contestant on season eight of "The Voice."
Between songs, Kent shared his strong commitment to family, a sentiment that drew warm applause from his North Texas audience. The night reached a high-energy climax when Kent and his band performed a powerful rendition of the Beatles' "Come Together."
